Did You Know That God Has a Name?

Discover Yahuah - The True Name of God Explained

Many people grow up calling on God without ever questioning if He has a personal, meaningful name. I'll be the first to admit I had never questioned it. But the Creator of heaven and earth does have a name — and it was preserved for those who seek Him. Today, I want to share what I discovered about the true name of God, Yahuah, and why this powerful truth matters for our faith, identity, and relationship with Him.

What Does Yahuah Mean?

Yahuah (sometimes spelled Yahuwah) comes from the Hebrew tetragrammaton YHWH. It is most commonly understood to mean “He Is” or “He Who Exists.” Rather than a generic title like “God” or “Lord,” Yahuah is a personal, covenant name, revealing the Creator’s true identity to His people. Many deities have been called gods — even people sometimes consider themselves gods. But what sets apart the Almighty is more than just a capital letter G.

Why Was the Name Hidden?

Over centuries, religious traditions replaced the name Yahuah with titles like “Lord” or “God” in many Bible translations. There were many given reasons, such as the name being too holy to utter and fear of misusing it. Those concerns, combined with cultural and religious shifts, led to its concealment. However, restoring the true name reconnects us to the authentic roots of our faith and honors the One who made Himself known by name. “My people will know my name.” — Isaiah 52:6

Why Restoring the Name Matters Today

Restoring and using the true name of the Father, Yahuah, can deepen your relationship with Him. When you call on His name, you acknowledge His eternal power, His personal covenant, and His identity as the One who has always existed. You begin to see Him in a different way. For me, it resparked my flame because now I was learning things about my Father that I never knew. It made seeking Him that much more desirable. Using His name connected me to Him in a way I had never been connected to Him before.

Using the name Yahuah reminds us of our spiritual heritage and the promises made to those who love Him. It creates a closer sense of intimacy and reverence in worship, while also helping us break away from traditions that may have had hidden agendas for concealing His name for generations.

By speaking His true name, we return to the authentic roots of Scripture and claim the relationship He invited us to — one built on truth, trust, and covenant. It’s personal. I remember, when I first came into this knowledge I thought everyone would want to know, but that just isn’t true. This invitation to go further is personal and is up to each person presented with the choice.

Scriptures That Support Yahuah’s Name

Throughout Scripture, we see clear evidence that our Creator wants His people to know and use His name. Here are just a few powerful verses that confirm and honor Yahuah:

|Exodus 3:15 “This is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.” 👉🏾 He is making it clear that His name was never meant to be forgotten.

|Psalm 68:4 “Sing unto Elohim, sing praises to His name: extol Him that rideth upon the heavens by His name YAH, and rejoice before Him.” 👉🏾 Even in translations like the Cepher and The Scriptures, you still see the shortened form “Yah,” testifying to the truth of His name.

|Isaiah 42:8 “I am Yahuah: that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” 👉🏾 He declares His name boldly, so there is no confusion about who He is.

In Conclusion

Learning and using the name Yahuah has changed the way I see my Father. It took me deeper, challenged what I had always been taught, and gave me a hunger to know Him in truth. It gave me a desire to share this truth as well as the good news of His son Yahusha too. I realize not everyone will understand or accept this knowledge, and that’s okay — each walk of faith is personal. But if you feel called to dig deeper, I encourage you to do your own research, pray for understanding, and keep seeking.

We are in a time where returning to the roots of our faith is more important than ever, and learning the name of our Creator is a beautiful place to start.
